Country music artist and singer-songwriter Ben Marshal was born in Bakersfield, CA, and raised in South East Oklahoma. At the age of 10, Marshal started singing and playing music in his hometown church and school bands. After high school he took his guitar on the road working on drilling rigs throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, North Dakota and Montana for almost a decade. During his downtime, he found local bars to play live and started writing songs inspired by his upbringing and travels.
Living and based in the Houston TX area in his early 20’s, Ben played several shows monthly around South Texas. This built a devoted fan base and developed his vocals, guitar playing and songwriting skills. With a job transfer to Oklahoma, he once again found clubs and local shows to entertain. After a few more years in the oil & gas industry, his first album was recorded at Leon Russell’s former studio in Tulsa, OK and sold better-than-expected, solidifying a decision to leave the drilling industry and pursue a life in music.
In 2013, he formed his band and went on the road full-time to promote his EP, playing over 300 shows in three years, and toured in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Tennessee, Louisiana, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Kansas.
Wanting to dig deeper into the professional world of songwriting, Marshal decided to make a move to Nashville. Still playing shows with his band outside of Tennessee, he immersed himself in co-writing, producing, session playing, and live performances, developing his sound, network, songwriting, and studio skills.
After three years of touring back and forth from Texas to Tennessee for work, Ben realized the need to grow and build his fan base in Texas was the long-term goal. Although he still manages his studio in Nashville, where he also records and produces, Ben has found his way back to Texas, now living in the Dallas area.
With his 4th album about to drop and a rigorous touring schedule ahead of him for 2019, Ben is happy to be back to where his friends, family and fans are, playing the music he loves to write and perform.
